Rapid Prototyping

ht90

The Institute of Aircraft Design and Lightweight Construction has numerous devices that enable prototypes to be produced at short notice.

In the field of rapid prototyping, student work can be offered that enables the realisation of a theoretical concept on a small scale.

The currently available 3D printers are presented below.

3D printers

Prusa Pro HT90
ht90

The Prusa Pro HT90 is a delta-kinematic 3D printer with a cylindrical print area (Ø300 × 400 mm). It has been specially designed to maximize the potential of modern materials such as ABS, ASA, PCCF, and PA. Its heated chamber reaches up to 90°C.

Product features of the Prusa Pro HT90

  • FDM printing in the printing area Ø300 × 400 mm
  • High-temperature print head PEI (Ultem), PEEK, PEKK, PPSU, PSU, PPS, PES
  • High-flow print head PLA, ASA, PETG, FLEX (TPU, TPE), ABS, PA, PC, PCCF
Bambu Lab X1C
Bambulab X1C

Product features of the Bambulab X1C with AMS

  • FDM printing in a print range of 256 × 256 × 256 mm³
  • Materials: PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA, PVA, PET
  • Multi-color & multi-material capability
  • High-quality prints with 7 μm lidar resolution
  • Multi-material printing with AMS
Formlabs Form 3+

The Formlabs Form3+ is a 3D printer based on the principle of stereolithography (SLA). Liquid resin (photopolymer) is cured locally by a laser. This printing process allows for thin layer thicknesses of up to 25 µm.

Post-processing of the printing process involves cleaning the uncured resin and further curing or homogenizing the structure using heat and/or UV radiation.

Markforged Mark Two
Mark forged two

The base material used in 3D printing with the Markforged Mark Two is usually the high-performance plastic Onyx®, a nylon material filled with micro carbon fiber. If necessary, this can be reinforced with continuous fibers.

Product features of the Marc Forged Two

  • FDM printing with Continuous Fiber Reinforcement (CFR) in a print area of 320 x 132 x 154 mm³
  • Materials Onyx, nylon, carbon fiber, glass fiber, Kevlar, or HSHT glass fiber
  • Layer resolution 100 μm - 250 μm
QIDI MAX3
QIDI MAX3

Product features of the QIDI MAX3

  • FDM printing in a print area of 325 x 325 x 315 mm³
  • Materials PLA, ABS, ASA, PETG, TPU, PC, UltraPA, nylon, PAHT-CF, PET-CF, PA12-CF
  • Max. 65 °C active chamber heating
  • Adjustments and modifications to the printing process possible with the custom FreeDi firmware
Snapmaker 2.0 A350T
snapmaker2

Snapmaker 2.0 is an FDM printer that can also be used for engraving. It is ideal for users who are just starting out and is mainly used by us in workshop training.

Product features of the Snapmaker 2.0 A350T

  •     Working area 350 x 350 x 350 mm³
  •     FDM materials PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU
  •     Engraving materials Marble, fiberboard, leather, PCB boa
