We are happy to keep you up to date during these unusual times and inform you about everything you should know before and at the start of your studies - e.g. about the planned teaching, preparatory courses and information events. First-semester students receive all the important information for a good start to their studies by e-mail and additionally in the menu below.
At the beginning of your studies, many things are still new and exciting. You can rest assured: When you start your studies, you will be accompanied by your professor in small groups and welcomed and informed by your subject group and your programme coordinator. This will allow you to get to know your new fellow students and make personal contacts. You will find up-to-date information on this page in due course. We will keep the information up to date until you start your studies. Please check back from time to time.

After you have successfully enrolled, you will receive a welcome letter from us with the relevant initial information for your start of studies. An e-mail address is automatically set up for all TU Braunschweig students.
The login for the e-mail-account is done with the y-number (GITZ user ID) and the corresponding password. You will receive your y-number together with your enrolment documents. Students who are enrolled at the TU Braunschweig for the first time must activate their y-number on the website of the Gauß-IT-Zentrum under the heading Self-Service – Erstsemester.
Please note: For contacting the examination office and the deans of studies, please use your ...@tu-braunschweig.de-email-adress. Employees of TU Braunschweig are instructed to communicate with students via the TU-email-address only (see also matriculation regulations §3 (2)).
The letter contains, among other things, your TAN numbers, which you will need to register for exams. The letter will be sent in a staggered manner based on the progress of your enrollment.
Lectures at the TU Braunschweig will start on Monday, 24 October 2022.
From 03.04.2022, proof of vaccination, convalescence or testing will no longer be required to enter the TU Braunschweig buildings. Due to the complexity of teaching and study operations, all other infection protection measures of the TU Braunschweig will be maintained. A summary of the most important rules can be found on our internet pages.

Stud.IP is the learning management system of the TU Braunschweig. Students can create their timetable here, register for courses, download teaching materials, set up study groups and much more. You can log in to Stud.IP with your y-number (= Username) and the corresponding password.

At the beginning of a new semester, there are a number of questions regarding the (first) use of Stud.IP. You can find a brief overview of the most important information on the start of the semester for students here.
We recommend to register for the study group of your degree programme on the Stud.IP platform. This will ensure that you get any important information. You can find the appropriate study group for your subject by entering "Studiengang ..." in the search field in Stud.IP.
S.O.S. is a peer-teaching programme in which German-speaking students support their international fellow students in their learning. In the S.O.S. project there are language coaches and learning groups for many courses.
QIS-Portal is the TU Braunschweig's university portal for students, lecturers and staff, which includes exam registration and deregistration, study certificates, the course catalogue and timetabling and room planning. The login to the QIS portal is done with the y-number (GITZ user ID) and the corresponding password. You will receive your y-number together with your enrolment documents.

The central VPN service of the TU Braunschweig enables every member of the TU Braunschweig to use certain networks and services of the TU Braunschweig on the move and from home via "Virtual Private Network" (VPN).
