SE²A – International Fellowships for Experienced Researchers from abroad - Call for application
The Cluster of Excellence SE²A offers long-term research stays for excellent experienced researchers from abroad at the two recognition levels defined as "SE²A-Fellowships" and "SE²A-Awards". Close collaboration during a research stay with the scientists of the Cluster SE²A fertilises scientific exchange in a direct way, builds trust, and creates joint research results.
The Fellowship for experienced researchers allows to
- carry out 6-12 months research at one of the Cluster sites in Niedersachsen, Germany
- choose your own topic of research in the field of sustainable and energy-efficient aviation and co-operate with the entire team of SE²A
- propose the academic host which must be Principal Investigator of the Cluster SE²A
- clearly define your own, original ideas on advanced scientific methodologies and/or new knowledge that your Fellowship will add to the research in the Cluster SE²A
Eligibility for the SE²A Fellowships
- completion of doctorate less than twelve years ago at time of application
- individual own research profile with an independent publication record
- academic performance well above the average of the respective discipline
- work at the level of an Assistant Professor, Junior Research Group Leader, Associate Professor or in equivalent positions, including positions in non-university research institutions
Application process and selection procedure
- Applicants can submit their proposals twice a year, i.e. by 31 March or 30 September.
- A letter of support by the host must be provided at the time of application.
- The fellowship is flexible. The duration of stay is usually one year, in special cases two years.
- An allowance of 3170 € per month plus (one-time) travel reimbursement is provided.
- The applicant must provide a confirmation by the host that she/he will cover all consumables and investments as needed for the research stay. Host receives a lump sum of 800 € per month to cover all expenses arising from research work.

Review process
The proposal will be reviewed by independent experts in the field of the application. On this basis, the SE²A Board will select the successful proposal based on the originality of the concept, the scientific quality, and the expected contribution to the SE²A Cluster.
