About the Center of Excellence in Lower Saxon Higher Education
The Center of Excellence in Lower Saxon Higher Education (CELSHE) has been established by the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony in the year 2000. It serves as a federal center for teaching and learning in Higher Education and is based at the Technische Universität Braunschweig.
Our main goal is to offer hands-on training as well as coaching for the academic staff with the focus on quality development of Teaching and Learning at Lower Saxon universities. We reach more than 20 universities in Lower Saxony. Around 2.000 academic teachers are taking part in our courses per year.
Our team includes trainers and researchers from different subject fields who are specialized in teaching, coaching and e-teaching in Higher Education.
Next to the standard 200-hour certificate programme that is offered at the CELSHE, we also develop special programmes for single universities as well as comprehensive online courses at several locations.
Of course, we regard research on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education as an important aspect in order to be up to date for training and counseling, but also to play an active part in the development of this field.
Our standard certificate programme, accredited by the National Society of Higher Education (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hochschuldidaktik), covers 200 hours of training.
We have established academic staff development programmes, tailored to the needs of the target group. The programmes are a combination of courses, personal and group coaching as well as peer observation.
Single Courses, Coaching and Advisory:
Furthermore, we operate as trainers, coaches and advisors at about 30 universities in Lower Saxony, Bremen, Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.
