Application

For an acceptance to the master's degree programme in Computational Sciences in Engineering (CSE), applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in:

• Engineering Sciences
• Natural Sciences
• Mathematics
• Computer Science
• or a closely related degree programme

CSE is an English taught programme!

Applicants who do not hold an Englisch higher education entrance certificate or who have not completed part of their education in English (language of instruction) have to provide one of the following:

• TOEFL (IBT, 88 points or more) 
• IELTS (6,5 or higher) 
• DAAD language certificate, English Language Proficiency Report of TU Braunschweig (2xB2 and 2xC1 or higher) or a similar language certificate

Note this German langauge change starting winter semester 2025/2026: Students who do not hold a German higher education entrance certificate (Abitur) or who have not completed part of their education in German (language of instruction) or at least a completed B2 level of German, have to proof A2 level of German when enrolling (September time frame). The module "Career Entry Qualifications" requires students, who do not hold these German language requirements to complete a B2 level of German. The classes are free of charge and integrated in the semester schedule. 

A complete application for CSE includes the following documents:

• original and translations of your university certificates in English or German (B.Sc. degree and transcript of records) with all subjects studied, including marks (most recent transcript if not yet graduated)  
• Your curriculum vitae
• Proof of English language 
• Receipt for payment of your assessment fee (if applicable)
• when enrolling: proof A2 level of German

The TU Braunschweig charges a fee of € 75 for the assessment of foreign qualifications which you have to pay when applying. Detailed information on payment procedures is provided at the end of the online application process.

You are exempt from the assessment fee, if:

• The Language Centre at the TU Braunschweig or the VHS Braunschweig has issued you an application confirmation for your visa application.
• You have received a German Bachelor Degree within a Dual Bachelor Degree-Program.
• You have already paid the assessment fee for a previous application to the TU Braunschweig. If yes, please provide your prior application number.
• You have received a scholarship from a national German scholarship provider (e.g. DAAD).
• You are already enrolled at the TU Braunschweig as a degree seeking student and are applying for a different course of study.
• Your documents have already been assessed by the German Ministry of Education (in Germany).

The final list of exceptions can be found during the application process. 

Once we receive your application we will start to examine your documents. You will be informed about the status of your application and the next steps as soon as possible.
