Professor (W3) for
„Design and Construction“

Our institute offers a wide range of courses that cover the entire spectrum of design-education in the department of architecture. Therefore the vacant position as professor for design and construction is classified as a main chair of design theory. The responsibilities range from teaching second year students pursuing a Bachelor's degree fundamental design principles to enhancing design competence of students completing their Master's degree.

In addition to the practical and theoretical examination of topics related to the structural system and design of buildings, an emphasis rests on the digitalization of design processes and the specific requirements of sustainable building and construction. The Institute for Building Design stands for an integrated design approach where artistic, societal and structural conditions are of equal importance. In regards to the continuing development of education and research formats, increasing interdisciplinary communication is expected not just within but also beyond the university.

We are looking for a personality who has compiled a number of relevant and distinct works. Prospective candidates are to demonstrate their aptitude with an outstanding architectural project in conjunction with others in the field of research and teaching. It is expected that all applicants possess a sufficient degree of pedagogical aptitude along with a outstanding qualification to work in scientific and architectural fields. These criteria should be demonstrated by previous teaching experience, as well as acknowledged scientific and architectural accomplishments. International experience in teaching and construction practice, as well as the ability to offer a range of courses in English are an advantage.

The requirements of the position are defined in Section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz).
