The “Research Network for Advancing Architecture, Engineering and Construction” (AdvanceAEC) brings together national and international researchers who strive to advance architecture, engineering and construction through digital technologies and an interdisciplinary approach. It aims to address the multifaceted ecological, economic and socio-cultural challenges the built environment is facing. The research network provides a platform to exchange expertise, foster and build an international research community in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, robotics and social sciences.

IntCDC - EXC 2120: Cluster of Excellence Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture
The Cluster of Excellence 2120 aims to lay the methodological foundations to profoundly modernise the design and building process and related building systems by adopting a systematic, holistic and integrative computational approach. One key objective is to develop an overarching methodology of "co-designing" methods, processes and systems based on interdisciplinary research encompassing architecture, structural engineering, building physics, engineering geodesy, manufacturing and systems engineering, computer science and robotics, humanities and social sciences.

SFB 1244 : Adaptive Hüllen und Strukturen für die gebaute Umwelt von morgen
The proposed collaborative research center aims at the development of new tools and methods for planning, constructing and operating the built environment. It investigates the potential of adaptive elements for load-bearing structures, envelopes and interior fittings. The objective of the proposed CRC is to demonstrate new ways for the construction industry to contribute to the solution of today's pressing ecologic and social problems. The use of adaptive elements in construction permits to overcome the set physical properties of components and buildings.

SFB/TR 280 : Konstruktionsstrategien für materialminimierte Carbonbetonstrukturen – Grundlagen für eine neue Art zu bauen
The aim of the SFB/TRR 280 is to create the foundations for building the future. Methods suitable for the design, modelling and construction with new materials require in-depth basic research. Ideas for innovative, material-suitable construction elements made of carbon concrete are provided by botany, mathematics and art, thus by disciplines other than construction.
