18th August Hans Herloff Inhoffen-Lecture

In memory of the chemist Prof Hans Herloff Inhoffen, who died in 1992, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) and the Technical University (TU) Braunschweig annually organize the Inhoffen lecture and award the Inhoffen Medal since 1994. The prize is endowed with 5,000 Euros. The Inhoffen Medal is the most prestigious German prize within the area of natural compound chemistry.

From 1946 to 1974, Inhoffen taught at the TU Braunschweig and served as its rector from 1948 to 1950. In 1965, he founded the "Institute of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Biophysics", the precursor of the "German Research Centre for Biotechnology" and today´s HZI.

The 23. Hans Herloff Inhoffen-Lecture, which is entitled "Catalytically Active Peptides - Minienzymes?", is given by this year's awardee Prof Dr Helma Wennemers (ETH Zürich) on Tuesday 18th of July, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Forum, Inhoffenstraße 7, 38124 Braunschweig.

The Inhoffen Medal and the prize money are awarded by the Friends of the HZI.

18th August Hans Herloff Inhoffen-Lecture

On March 30th is the FameLab International in Braunschweig. Here young scientists explain their science for everyone. You can still enter the competition till Thursday 16th and show what you can.

The Preliminary Decision for Lower Saxony is held by the Helmholtz-Centre for Infection Research in the Forum.

1st March Registration opens for: C- COMEND Course: Translational Research and Medicine Development

We invite our PhD's to register now for the C-COMEND Course: Translational Research and Medicine Development.

The C-COMEND Course is a free course consisting of an introductory e‑learning (~ 20 hours student investment time) followed by a 5 day face-to-face workshop from 9th October to 13th October 2017. The course is intended for PhD students in the second half of their PhD.

The C-COMEND course provides participants with the knowledge, philosophy and tools needed in translational research and medicine development empowering them to make a difference in translational medicine.

The course will give the PHD students the oportunity to: 

  • gain a holistic understanding of the medicines development process
  • met and discuss with experts from academia and pharma at eye level
  • hear and discuss real-world stories presented by those who were involved
  • learn about newest approaches in the medicines development sciences
  • network with peers from different research areas and different countries
The registration deadline is 1st June 2017 tbc.
