Kurzfassung:

Satellite based localization systems like GPS, Galileo or GLONASS are used in all modes of transport, today mainly for information purposes like passenger information or non-safety relevant navigation. With the availability of GPS L5 in 2018 and Galileo Safety of Life Service preconditions for safety relevant applications of satellite based localization systems are fulfilled. The safety relevance makes further applications – precise docking of ships, flexible train control, automatic lane changing of cars and a straight approach of aircrafts – possible. For those applications a certification of the receivers according to the standards of the relevant domains is necessary. Hence a common understanding of technical terms among all modes of transport and its safety domains is needed. For this purpose a methodology has been developed to build a consistent terminology which allows a detailed separation of different understandings. The additional method of attribute hierarchies allows detailing the connected properties into characteristics, quantities and concrete values. Furthermore it includes a sophisticated relationship-model to interconnect different terms to a full terminology-network, which also can be modeled formally by means of class diagrams and petri-nets. With this formal method being applied the safety relevant use of satellite based localization systems in all modes of transport is possible. Therefore the integrity of the system needs to be monitored which is done by the Galileo Safety of Life Service. As a base for the application of this service for safety relevant applications in transport in our recent research the formal method for the detailed analysis of terminology has been applied to the term integrity of satellite based localization and connected to the term fault detection of railways. With this approach the system specifications of satellite based localization systems can be compared with the requirements of the specific application domains. Following a linguistic framework for a structured terminology of both satellite based localization systems and land transport will be outlined. The terminology will be used for the conversion of values of satellite based localization systems and land transport which is a base for further safety relevant applications. The first step of this comparison is a static experiment where the specifications of satellite based localization systems are compared with real performance. This allows furthermore a validation of the outlined approach. All modes of transport are moving and operate in dynamic environment. Therefore the verification of the train position information needs to be done in dynamic environment by a reference system. This system compares the reference position with the calculated position, similar systems have not been set up yet. Therefore this paper will outline an approach to set up a dynamic reference system and which preconditions have to be fulfilled to set it up. Therefore non-satellite based localization systems, which will be used as a reference, are evaluated.
