Measurement Platforms for Satellite Based Positioning Systems.

The GALILEO System opens the door for the use of safety-related transportation applications[9]. This new European satellite-based positioning system will also be the first to meet the different requirements of all modes of transportation. In general, these requirements and the corresponding regulations are very specific to the respective mode and differ significantly. Towards the institution of a certification process, a reference platform is an essential step to be made. This paper presents the concept for two hardware platforms for the domain of road traffic or rail transportation, respectively. These platforms can be considered as reference platforms for the investigation and evaluation of future positioning systems.
