Kurzfassung:

With the increase in the population of cities and transport on the road, there is an increase in traffic congestion and accidents. To avoid traffic jam and vehicle's collision on road safety applications are being developed using Vehicular Adhoc Networks (VANETs). This paper deals with the message dissemination protocol, which is in the most need after a crash in a platoon of vehicles to disseminate alert message to avoid multiple collision, roadblock or call emergency services. To circulate the message in the extended area, vehicles equipped with the wireless interface relay this information. The paper proposes a message dissemination mechanism with the intelligence of the need of re-broadcasting without introducing any new control message in the network. It reduces the number of redundant copies and times of re-broadcast. The paper also includes a mathematical model for the expected results.
