Main Research Interests

Structure and chemistry of polysaccharides (cellulose, starch, amylose, cyclodextrins, dextran, pullulan, alginate) and its derivatives:

  • Synthesis of new functional polysaccharides via reactive intermediates (alkenyl ethers, propargyl ethers) and - in cooperation - its application (e.g. biofunctionalization of surfaces, coating of nanoparticles)
  • Development of new quantitative methods for the analysis of cellulose and starch derivatives on different structural levels in order to get more knowledge about structure-property-relationship and the influence of derivatization conditions on the pattern of substitution
  • Synthesis of blocklike copolymers and new glycoarchitectures based on cyclodextrins
  • Synthesis of aminoalkylamyloses and application in bioanalysis
  • Functionalization of surfaces of semiconductor devices for 3D assembly
  • Methodic focus: mass spectrometry
  • Further instrumental techniques: GC-FID, CE-UV, ATR-IR, NMR
