Students have obtained a cross-product understanding of the development process for technical systems. They know a generally applicable procedure model to plan, implement and review the development process. They are familiar with single steps of basic methods for task clarification and the finding of principle solutions of new products. In addition, they learned about methods to consider costs and plan projects and are able to apply them.
Students are capable of planning a development task and using methods purposefully. They can illustrate the working principles of proposed solution variants and explain them physically. They are able to state decisions for or against potential sub solutions objectively.

The course is completely based on online learning material. Thus, the lectures are provided as video lectures via studIP. Within the video lectures, the basic procedures as well as methods and tools for engineering design are introduced. The videos and examples are enriched by examples from industry and additional material provided for download.
The exercises are provided as video exercises and present exemplary applications of methods. For further application, homework exercises are provided to deepen the application and practical use of the methods and tools. A discussion forum and the possibility of face-to-face appointments guarantee to answer questions.
