The IK at NFL

The IK, with its research focus being on vibroacoustics, is part of the work of the Lower Saxony Research Center for Aeronautics (NFL). In the grouping of Technische Universität Braunschweig, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and the Leibniz University of Hanover, this is a comprehensive competency. The NFL strengthens and links the research center "Forschungsflughafen Braunschweig" by promoting fundamental, coordinated research programs of the partners with the aim of excellent scientific achievements.

Sonderforschungsbereich 880

Currently, a major contribution of the IK to the NFL is the work within the scope of the Sonderforschungsbereichs 880; "Basics of the high-rise of future commercial aircraft". It examines different concepts of active high-speed systems. The focus of the investigations is on the issues of noise reduction and the improved scalability of the performance parameters during take-off and landing.

For example, under the direction of Prof. Sabine Langer, the employees of the Vibroacoustics Group are investigating the development and prediction of car noise caused by body vibration in the context of the subproject A6. The aim of the project is to evaluate the installation of novel ultra-high-bypass ratio engines with respect to cabin noise compared to a conventional engine. The finite element method is used for this purpose.

The information poster of SFB 88o provides useful information on subproject A6 as well as an overview of further subprojects and research areas. You can find more information, also on entry possibilities in the SFB, in the information flyerand on the website: www.tu-braunschweig.de/sfb880.
