Since April 2016 Janina Kandt works as a PhD researcher at the Chair of International Relations. Janina Kandt completed her Master in Social Science with special focus on Globalization, Transnationalism and Governance at Ruhr University Bochum in 2014. While studying, she worked as a research assistant at the Chair of International Politics at the Ruhr University. She also worked for six months for the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation in the field of democracy promotion in Cambodia. The main focus of her work was on the comprehension of social and political structures, complex issues of globalization and the resulting inequality on the ground.

Her previous research interests have focused on institutional economics and international political economy. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD project focusing on Global Crime Governance of the EU with a focus on the role of non-state actors inthe development and implementation of regulations in the fight against human trafficking. She further conducts research on EU cybersecurity measures.

At the Chair Janina Kandt conducts research in the field of Global Crime Governance. Furthermore, she was part of the project International Diplomacy and Negotiation.
