Portrait Luong Phong Ho» For me as a scientist it is of immense importance to have enough support at my own university. Of course, this also includes getting enough financial means to realize one's own research projects. I find both at the TU Braunschweig. Here I can pursue my own ideas and be curious.

I was born in Germany as a child of Vietnamese immigrants. After finishing school, I started studying chemistry in Braunschweig in 2012. I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees here and then started my doctorate in the working group of Prof. Dr. Matthias Tamm.

Currently I am working on the stabilization of reactive main group-element compounds. It is basically hardcore fundamental research. Of course I will not save the world with it. But it is, like any other research project, a small and important part on the whole that is called science. It is sometimes difficult to justify fundamental research, since there is usually no immediate positive effect for the general public to be expected. It is important to be able to do it anyway. Because today's fundamental research could perhaps make tomorrow's future technology possible. «
