Advanced Characterization of Bituminous Materials

Course content

The students will learn the most current advanced techniques and models to characterize asphalt materials and to describe the actual mechanical behavior of asphalt binder and asphalt mixture together with the response of the intermediate material phases. The students will be able to link the tests methods and measured parameters to the corresponding material models. The students will learn the basic concepts of failure mechanisms in asphalt pavements Inhalte This new class will cover the following topics:

  • Presentation of bituminous material modeling, including rheological elements, rheological and analogical models,
  • performance test methods and application of models to experimental results
