Thesis Office

The thesis office of the University Library Braunschweig is where the mandatory copies of all dissertations and habilitations of the Technische Universität Braunschweig are submitted. When all requirements are fulfilled, the office issues the document of confirmation needed for the doctoral certificate. The University Library also offers access to these theses and distributes them to other universities.

Procedure for the submission of deposit copies of dissertations

Due to the current situation regarding the coronavirus the Thesis Office is currently not able to offer personal consultation appointments.

The deposit copies can be handed in Mondays to Fridays at the Central Information Desk during its opening hours until half an hour before it closes in the entrance area of the UB. You will be given a receipt  on delivering your copies. However, this document only confirms your submission and is not the document your department needs to draw up your doctoral certificate.

Acceptance of deposit copies is also possible by mail.

After your documents have been checked by the thesis office, the confirmation document is drawn up and sent to your department (usually on the next business day). You will receive a confirmation by email.

Please send your deposit copies by mail to:

Universitätsbibliothek Braunschweig

Universitätsplatz 1

38106 Braunschweig

If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to ub-diss(at) or call Mrs Globisch in the morning at +49 (0) 531 391-5024.

Submission regulations

The submission regulations for mandatory copies are defined in the exam regulations (Promotionsordnungen) of the Faculties and in the so called Gemeinsame Habilitationsordnung.
These regulations are disseminated through the so called Amtlichen Bekanntmachungen der TU Braunschweig und can also be found in the dean's office of the faculties.

All copies have to include a title page that fulfills the requirements of the annexes of the exam regulations precisely. The format requirements (DIN A4, DIN A5, etc.) are defined in the regulations of your department.
Additionally, the printed thesis should be printed double-sided on durable, wood- and acid-free paper (according to DIN ISO 9706) and has to be permanently bound (binding without metal staples, no spiral binding).
