Depending on the Summer School course, there are various accommodation options that TU Braunschweig can organise for you. For example, you can get a room in a host family or a shared flat for the duration of your course. If you spend an exchange semester at TU Braunschweig directly after your Summer School course, you have the option of getting a room in a student hall of residence.
All forms of accommodation come with additional costs of around 300 to 600 euros per month.
Of course, you are free to organise another form of accommodation on your own (e.g. hotel, hostel, AirBnB). You will find helpful information on the following websites:
For all summer school courses, you will find a link containing detailed information on how to apply. The application and registration is done directly via the contact information given there. Please note that for courses taught in English, a language certificate of level B2 should usually be submitted. This proof does not have to be official, and can be issued by your university.
The respective application deadline and the participation requirements can be found in the short descriptions of the courses offered.
Braunschweig, with around 250,000 inhabitants, is the largest city between Hanover and Berlin: it is an attractive shopping city, with a lively cultural scene and the centre of one of the two most research-intensive regions in Europe.
The university cafeteria at TU Braunschweig offers several different dishes every day, as well as a salad bar and snacks. The dishes usually cost between 3.00 to 5.00 euros. There are also numerous cafés and restaurants around campus that offer affordable lunch menus. If you're not too hungry, you can get small snacks for 2.00 to 5.00 euros at local bakeries.
Braunschweig is a student city, which adds to the vibrant range of bars, cafés, restaurants and clubs. Due to the historical importance of the city - Goethe's Faust was premiered here, among other things - there is still a wide range of cultural activities on offer today, including opera, theatre and dance theatre.
Braunschweig has a well-developed local transport system. TU Braunschweig is easy to reach by public transport. But you can also get from A to B quickly by bike in Braunschweig. Renting a bike for the duration of your stay is possible as well.
