You will receive all important information about the start of the semester to your TU e-mail. Check it regularly!

• 01.10.2023: Start of the winter semester 2023/2024
• Monday, October 23, 2023: Start of classes (start of lectures).

The week before the start of lectures is the orientation week of the department.

Registration for the courses takes place during the orientation week.  Registration for courses at the Department of Social Sciences is done via Stud.IP unless otherwise stated in the course catalog.

Y-Number

To access Stud.IP, among other things, you need a y-number, which you will receive upon enrollment.

What is a y-number? This is the number with which you can print at the university and also use the TU-wide W-LAN. You will also receive a name@tu-bs.de e-mail address. Likewise, the y-number is needed to access Stud.IP.

At the Gauss IT Center, the TU's computer center, introductory events are held regularly, especially in the first few weeks, with instructions on where and how to print, what free software you can get from the IT Center, and how to top up your print account.

In order to be able to take examinations after the end of the lecture period, you must register for your examinations in the TUconnect university portal during the examination registration period. You can find the current exam registration period on the pages of the Examination Office.
