Open now - Call for Research Proposals 2022
TU Braunschweig has defined one of its core research areas to create safe, efficient and sustainable mobility for the future. In aviation research, we follow an interdisciplinary research concept, jointly with DLR and Leibniz University Hannover, within the Cluster of Excellence “SE²A - Sustainable and Energy Efficient Aviation” (EXC 2163). The Cluster defines scientific and technological foundations for a sustainable future global air transport system to meet the mobility demands. It defines solutions for transformation needs of the air transport system by introducing new aircraft technologies, new energy storage and conversion approaches, and fundamental evaluations of the overall aviation system.
The Cluster of Excellence is structured into the three core research areas, namely “Assessment of the Air Transport System”, focusing on Operations Research, technology assessment and life cycle analysis, “Flight Physics and Vehicle Systems” for new aircraft technologies in flight physics and aircraft structures, and “Energy Storage and Conversion”, focusing on vehicle energy storage and conversion systems and full- and hybrid-electric aircraft drive systems.
The Cluster seeks for excellent ideas for research projects in the following areas:
Important Information for Applicants
Template Cluster Research Proposal
Prior to submission of the proposal, an informal letter of intent (LOI) including i) the proposed project title, ii) name of the planned lead applicant (lead PI) plus planned co-PIs, and iii) proposed assignment to ICAs is mandatory.
Deadline for the Letter of intent is 7 June 2022.
Application deadline for Proposals is 29 August 2022 at 24.00 CET. Later applications will not be considered for evaluation.
Please send your documents to se2a(at)tu-braunschweig.de
In addition to the CFP, proposals from the PIs are also welcome in ICA A 2.4 (Sustainable aircraft systems) and ICA C 2.5 (Aircraft thermal management system). These fields have been identified for potential JRG (Junior Research Groups) but no such groups will be established in these two areas.
Additional LOI for such proposals will be accepted until June, 24th.
