QuantumFrontiers – Light and Matter at the Quantum Frontier

[Translate to English:]

Unprecedented measurement precision at the largest and smallest dimensions, from gravitational wave astronomy to the control of light and matter at the quantum level: The Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers brings top researchers in Metrology in the Hannover-Braunschweig region together to push the boundaries of what can be measured. As pioneers of the quantum world, the researchers bridge the foundations of metrology with the applications in metrology and connect their discoveries with society. The TU Braunschweig, Leibniz Universität Hannover and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt are involved in the cluster.

Facts and figures

After the first half of the cluster term, QuantumFrontiers has grown to 273 members by the end of 2022, who have published exactly 467 publications in 26 topical groups and received 18 awards. In cooperation with 28 national and international research networks, more than 60 third-party funded projects with a total volume of more than 170 million euros have been launched. With 4 spin-offs, 6 patents and over 150 students inspired in MasterClasses, the Cluster of Excellence is entering the second half of its term until 2025 with renewed enthusiasm.
