Our faculty demonstrates that life and especially the human being is a central focus of the Technical University (TU) Braunschweig:

The scientific disciplines of Biology and Biotechnology uncover the foundations of life while Psychology explores the inner processes and behaviours of human beings. Chemistry and Nutrition Chemistry investigate chemical substances that make life possible, whereas the research in Pharmacy focuses on medical substances for therapeutics in humans. Each of these disciplines in Braunschweig contain a specific strategic focus and research strength. We would like to invite you to inform yourself about the specific research topics on the introductory websites of each discipline and we hope that you discover the manifold opportunities that the Life Science Department of the TU Braunschweig has to offer.

Our academic teaching staff of the faculty is dedicated to providing the highest standard of scientific training for students in numerous exciting and interdisciplinary degree programs. In addition to the central courses of studies in biology, chemistry, pharmacy and psychology, we also offer study programs in biochemistry and chemical biology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical engineering and chemistry of energy conversion. Furthermore, continued education in psychotherapeutics is available, which is linked to the only walk-in clinic in psychotherapy for children and juveniles throughout Germany.

And there is more that uniquely characterizes the Life Sciences Faculty of the TU Braunschweig: Manifold cross-disciplinary cooperations are conducted among institutes of the different faculties such as engineering or informatics, a number of joint projects with regional research institutions such as the German Aerospace Center (DLR) or the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI). Such interdisciplinary research is not just a buzz-word in Braunschweig, but it is filled with life in a number of joint study courses for students as well as cooperative research programs in jointly operated research centers (BRICS, LENA, PVZ). This is of particular interest to graduate and PhD students who can easily gain access to extra-mural research activities by working on inter-institutional thesis projects. If you would like to study and research with us, numerous opportunities await you.

We hope we have raised your curiosity. Please visit the websites of our research institutes, and if you have questions, feel free to contact us!
