The Institute of Machine Tools and Production Technology
Chair of Sustainable Production and Life Cycle Engineering
of the Technische Universität Braunschweig is looking for
1 research engineer (m/f/d)
at the earliest possible date limited for 2 years in full time
The Chair of Sustainable Manufacturing and Life Cycle Engineering (NPLCE) of the Institute of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology (IWF) develops new methods, tools and technologies in the research fields "Sustainability in Production", "Life Cycle Engineering" and "System of Systems Engineering" to successfully meet the challenges of sustainable development along the entire life cycle of technical products. To support our motivated team we are looking for a research engineer (m/f/d).
In the research field "Digital Production of Sustainable Batteries" we develop methods and tools for the modeling, analysis, control as well as for the holistic (economic and ecological) evaluation of the battery cell life cycle. In doing so, we pursue the goal of enabling a resource-efficient, quality- and cost-optimized design of the battery cell product life cycle with special consideration of production as well as recycling. The research is carried out on the basis of the infrastructure of the Battery LabFactory Braunschweig (BLB), in which the entire process chain of battery cell production, as well as battery cell recycling, are mapped. The focus of the vacant position is the investigation and design of sustainable paths of battery recycling in the BMBF competence cluster Recycling & Green Battery (greenbatt-cluster.de). To this end, we conduct systematic technology monitoring, evaluate the environmental impacts and costs of new recycling processes, and network key players in the research and industrial landscape.
Analysis and sustainability assessment of technical systems in the context of electromobility,
Use of methods and tools for the modeling of energy and material flows and the implementation of life cycle assessments
(e.g. Python-based - Brightway2) and life cycle inventory databases (e.g. Ecoinvent)
Research data management
Development of decision support tools for research, industry and policy,
Payment is made according to the responsibilities assigned and the fulfilment of individual requirements up to pay group 13 TV-L. For further information, please contact Mr. Mennenga by phone at (0531) 391-7150.
