This page contains questions that are asked quite often in the UDS. Please once have a look at here and below the page About UDS, before you send an e-mail to the person of contact listed below. 1. Why should I register at UDS?
By registering at UDS each user can view his data only; an authentification takes place by any means. That is why you have to identify yourself with your user-id and password.
2. I have a WWW-ID.??? Can I register using that ID?
No. The WWW-IDs that are coming from INTRANET are not supported by the UDS. See question number 3 also.
3. I have a WWW-ID. How can I change my mail-forwarding?
Users, who are not registered as a student or staff in the TU Braunschweig anymore, can further use our mailing system to redirect their mail via TU to other email-addresses. This method can be useful after the studies (in the sense of mail-forwarding) and provides further connectivity with the University after the studies. As long as a user processes his user-id, he can prompt and establish mail-forwarding via UDS. Former users, who no more have user-id with password in our system, are requested to send a signed fax requesting for modification to +49 531 391 5549 or email us at bdd@tu-bs.de, for changing their email address. We will then make the necessary registration.
4. I forgot my password. How can I get a new one?
If you have forgotten your password you have to go to the room 015 in the Gauss-IT-Center for the operation. There, after submitting your personal and student identity card, a new password is set for you. Later, you can change this password under the option "Change password".
5. How can I change entries in a mailing list?
According to the rule of the GITC mailing lists are designed only to the demands of a (Institute's) DV-coordinator. He names alias of the mail of all users in a list. Only he is permitted to add or remove users from the list. In few justified cases, a list for a group of users can be generated. You are requested to report to Mrs. A Stemme (User support, Tel.: 5516) with a justified claim for setting up or modifying a list.
6. I get an error message in the notification of UDS.
Whenever I open the page of UDS in my internet browser I get an error message, which is as follows:

Reason of the error message: You have probably saved a certificate of GITC of the TU-Braunschweig in your web-browser. This certificate is for a limited period of time and by now expired.
Solution: Delete the certificate that is saved in your web-browser:
Internet Explorer: "Extras" -> "Internet options" -> "Content" -> "Employer". In that remove the certificate, which is issued by "www.tu-bs.de" or "www.tu-braunschweig.de".
Mozilla: "Tools" -> "Options" -> "Advanced" -> under "Certificates" click on "Manage Certificates" -> "Authorities". In that remove the certificate of "TU Braunschweig".
