How to study successfully

If you are studying at TU Braunschweig, you need a good knowledge of German - for your studies, in everyday life or for a later career. Moreover, studying in Germany can also be very challenging concerning the academic level. No need to worry, because at TU Braunschweig there are many services and programmes that will help you to successfully complete your studies.

Learning German

The Language Center of TU Braunschweig offers German courses during the semester at levels A1-C1.The broad range of courses consists of basic courses and specific courses with which you can train certain skills of the German language. The topics include speaking and writing training, listening comprehension, technical German, or the technical language for a specific field of study.

Language Tandem

You can also improve your language skills in our tandem programme together with a native speaker. The concept is simple: you help your tandem partner learn your native language and he*she helps you learn his*her native language. Click here to go to the tandem portal.

Services of the University Library

Courses & Tours

To support you in your studies as much as possible, the University Library offers tours, Citavi courses and courses on academic work. English-language tours are also available on request for groups of three or more. Please contact the staff via e-mail:

UB4U: Individual Support

Are you stuck on researching a particular topic? Do you need an introduction to a specific database or help with the basics of citation? Then take advantage of the University Library's new consultation service, UB4U! In a one-to-one conversation lasting about half an hour, the staff of the University Library will help you with all topics related to academic work. You can request an appointment directly online here. (GERMAN)

The University Library offers study space for more than 900 people, study room for groups, individual study carrels, WiFi via eduroam as well as printers, copying machines and scanners.

Our study room for groups on the 3rd floor gives you the opportunity to work in groups and not disturb the other students in the reading rooms. Additionally, you can use one of the 15 individual study carrels. If you are interested in booking a carrel, please fill out this form (GERMAN) and inquire it at the circulation desk.

The University Library also offer computers with internet access and graphic programmes (on the ground as well as on the first and second floor). To use these computers, log in with your ID number and password and you can surf the internet for 15 hours per week.
