Team

Operative team at the Institute of Semiconductor Technology:

  • Steffen Bornemann, M. Sc. has studied Physics at the Georg-August-University Göttingen and is doing his PhD in the field of nanostructuring and laser-based material machining of GaN.
  • Juliane Breitfelder, our technician for microtechnology, is in charge of preparing the samples, maintenance of the facilities and processing the LEDs.
  • Jan Gülink, M. Sc. has studied Electrical Engineering at the TU Braunschweig and is doing his PhD in the field of processing and nanostructuring of LEDs.
  • Dr.-Ing. Jana Hartmann is managing the activities within the ec². She has studied Electrical Engineering at the TU Braunschweig and has done her PhD in the field of metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy of three-dimensional GaN/InGaN LEDs.
  • Frederik Lüßmann, M.Sc. has studied Physics at the Georg-August-University Göttingen and is doing his PhD in the field of epitaxy of group III-nitrides for laser applications.
  • Irene Manglano Clavero, M. Sc. has studied Physics at the Complutense University Madrid and is doing her PhD in the field of metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy of three-dimensional GaN/InGaN architectures.
  • Christoph Margenfeld, M. Sc. has studied Nanotechnology at the Leibniz University Hannover and is doing his PhD in the field of metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy of three-dimensional GaN/AlGaN architectures.
  • Aileen Michalski is technician for microtechnology and supports the ec² team by processing of samples according to their individual requirements.
  • Lukas Peters, M. Sc. has studied Electrical Engineering at the TU Braunschweig and is doing his PhD in the field of sputter deposition of AlGaN.
  • Hendrik Spende, M. Sc. has studied Physics at the Georg-August-University Göttingen and is doing his PhD in the field of characterisation of micro- and nanostructures in the scanning electron microscope.
  • Klaas Strempel, M. Sc. has studied Physics at the Georg-August-University Göttingen and is doing his PhD in the field of fabrication and characterisation of three-dimensional electronic devices.
  • Stefan Wolter, M. Sc. studied Electrical Engineering at the TU Braunschweig and is now working on the electro-optical analysis of µLEDs in the context of his PhD studies.

This core team accomplishing the different tasks is supported by the Institute’s workshops like the mechanical workshop, here in particular by its supervisor, Andreas Heidemann, and Karl-Heinz Lachmund, as the supervisor of the electronic workshop, as well as studentical assistants.

The technical and scientific advisory board (in cooperation with the TU Braunschweig & OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH):

  • apl. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hergo-Heinrich Wehmann has conducted the technical planning of the ec² to a considerable amount and he brings in his long-time experience in the field of epitaxy in terms of classical III/V-materials and III-nitrides.
  • Professor Dr. rer. nat. Andreas Waag, as the leader of the Institute of Semiconductor Technology, is responsible for the scientific orientation within the IHT as well as within the ec². His successful fundraising of substantial projects – in particular the EU FP 7 project GECCO with the IHT as its coordinator – and the close cooperation together with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors implemented the scientific basis for the application related research which is the focus of the ec².
  • Dr. Hans-Jürgen Lugauer, Head of the work group ‘Research Epitaxy’ at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH (OSRAM OS), covers the subjects of epitaxy in the preliminary stage of development of OSRAM OS and is furthermore responsible for the epitaxy activities within several publicly funded projects. He has long-time experience in the epitaxy of InGaN-based, highly-efficient LEDs by MOVPE. He is the contact person at OSRAM OS for the ec² core team coordinating the joint OSRAM OS - ec² projects in progress.
