Current Lectures

Since April 2016 is Katharina Mann a research associate at the Institute of International Relations at the TU Braunschweig working in teaching and research. Inbetween 03/21-03/2023 Katharina worked as full-time international peace worker for violence prevention abroad and returned to the Institute in March 2023 and is now employed as lecture.

Katharina studied her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Gender Study and Philosophy at Gottfried Wilhelm-Leibniz-Universität Hannover and La Universidad de La Habana, Cuba. Following this, she graduated her Master of Arts in Peace Studies and International Politics at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen and the University of Cape Town with focus on Conflict analysis, Peace pedagogy and Mediation. In her Master thesis she engaged with the phenomenon of gang violence and civil reintegration programmes in South Africa.

Throughout her academic career Katharina Mann put her research focus on urban violence, gender studies and identity research with specific interest on Latin America. As a lecture she was part of the project International Diplomacy and Negotiation.

At the Institute Katharina Manns research interest is in the field of Non-traditional Security Threats. Her dissertation on "Understanding Female Gang Membership in Areas of Urban Insecurity. An Analysis of Combo Girls in Medellìn´s Ganglandscape" was published in 2022.
