Vice President for Digital Transformation and Sustainability

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Krafczyk has been in office as Senior Vice President for Digitisation and Sustainability since 1 September 2023. He had already assumed this position on an interim basis since 1 August 2022. Prof. Krafczyk joined the Executive Board in April 2020: initially responsible for issues of digitisation and technology transfer.

Short profile

Professor Manfred Krafczyk was Professor for Computational Fluid Dynamics and Digital Engineering at the Institute for Computational Modeling in Civil Engineering at TU Braunschweig from October 2001 to September 2023. He led a research group dedicated to the development and application of numerical methods for the simulation of flows on parallel hardware as well as aspects of building informatics. The application of these methods ranges from microsystem technology and soil physics to aerodynamics and wind engineering.

Professor Krafczyk participated in several national and international scientific committees and commissions. For the design of the department of digitalization and sustainabililty, he has a wide range of experience, including as a long-standing member of the various IT committees of the Carolo-Wilhelmina and has helped shape their transformation.

His current responsibilities within the TU Braunschweig include:
