Material and cell ageing

To establish a circular economy of battery materials, it is necessary to understand the ageing of the cells as well as the individual components. In projects 2.2 -2.7, ageing mechanisms are identified and characterization methods are established to investigate its effects on the overall cell system of aged materials.
These are:

• Project 2-2: State determination and characterization of contaminated and aged battery cells.
• Project 2-3: Electrochemical and impedance spectroscopic investigation of regenerated cathode materials and the lithium-ion cells produced from them.
• Project 2-4: Cell Behavior Monitoring with Integrated Thin-Film Sensors.
• Project 2-5: Investigations of Spatial Structure and Composition of Battery Electrode Materials.

• Project 2-6: Aging effects of the cathode structure.

• Project 2-7: Innovative sensors and improved models for batteries under extreme conditions.

• Project 2-8: Impact of impurities on the physico-chemical processes in batteries made from recycled materials.
