Sustainable fulfilment of mobility needs in rural areas

Project partner
Project description

The project “NEMo“ deals with consumers' mobility needs in rural areas. With respect to the demographic change as well as the concentration of facilities close to the city center, there is a lack of public mobility services in provincial areas. Considering this problem, this project addresses the development of sustainable and innovative mobility services. In this context the key elements for proper planning and controlling are information as well as telecommunication technologies. In a first step the specific requirements and limitations of new mobility concepts have to be identified. For a better coordination and networking all stakeholders, especially the citizens and service providers, will be involved in the development process. Thus the actual needs and potential barriers can be determined in an early phase of the project. During the project lifetime the developed concepts will be combined and tested within the area of Oldenburg and the district of Wesermarsch.

The main objective is a sustainable improvement of the consumers' mobility in rural areas as well as the development of new business models based on the developed concepts.
