IRMB | Alexander Henkes elected as a GAMM Junior

[Abu Aktuelles]

Alexander Henkes, a research associate at the Institute for Computational Modeling in Civil Engineering (iRMB), got elected as a Junior member of the Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM). This honors his outstanding contributions in the field of artificial intelligence for continuum micromechanics under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Henning Wessels. Alexander Henkes published the main contributions of his Ph. D. thesis in top-ranking international journals in his field, see [1-5], https://www.tu-braunschweig.de/irmb/institut/alexander-henkes-msc.

The GAMM promotes the scientific development of applied mathematics and mechanics. Each year, ten new GAMM Juniors are selected out of nominated candidates based on the proposals of the GAMM representatives at the different universities. The young research candidates are characterized by an excellent Ph.D. thesis in the field of Applied Mathematics or Mechanics. More information about the GAMM Juniors can be found at https://www.gamm-ev.de/en/organisation-eng/gamm-juniors.

The GAMM was founded in 1922 by Ludwig Prandtl and Richard von Mises. The organization stimulates scientific development in all areas of applied mathematics and mechanics. As a legacy of the founding fathers, the society cultivates international cooperation in Applied Mathematics as well in all areas of Mechanics and Physics related to the foundations of the engineering sciences. Historically, the GAMM has played an essential role in advancing hydro- and aerodynamics, solid state mechanics, and numerical and industrial mathematics. GAMM is a society with a distinctly international organization, with currently more than 1500 members, see https://www.gamm-ev.de/en for further information.
