
“Production technologies for renewable energies in India” is a project within the BMBF campaign "India and Germany - Strategic Partners for Innovation". It is a cooperation project between two production technology institutes of the Technische Universität (TU) Braunschweig, the “Institute of Machine Tools and Production Technology” (IWF) and the “Institute of Joining and Welding Technique” (Ifs). India as a large country with significant economic growth faces an enormous and steadily increasing energy demand. Against the background of a significant contribution to global warming when using fossil energy carriers and the need for decentralised energy supply (especially in rural regions) renewable energies (e.g. solar) are playing a major role in India. With this cooperation German know-how regarding modern product- and production technologies should be used to enable the development and manufacturing of appropriate renewable energy equipment in India while particularly considering India’s specific infrastructure and requirements.
