Prof. Dr. Martin Koch

Martin Koch was born on Dec. 4th 1963 in Marburg, Germany. After having completed his degree in physics at the universities of Marburg and Heidelberg he earned his PhD degree in Marburg in 1995 with a thesis in the field of ultrafast spectroscopy of semiconductors.

1995 - 1996 he was postdoc in the Advanced Photonics Research Department at Bell Laboratories/Lucent  Technologies in Holmdel, NJ.

1996 - 1998 he worked as a scientific assistant in the Photonics and Optoelectronics group at the University of Munich, Germany.

From 1998 to 2008 he was associate professor for terahertz systems technology at the the electrical engineering department of the Technical University Braunschweig, Germany.

In summer 2003 he spent a three month sabbatical at the University of Santa Barbara. Also in 2003 he was awarded with the Kaiser Friedrich research price.

From Jan. 2009 he is full professor for semiconductor physics at the physics department of the Philipps University Marburg, Germany.
